Kuwait Amateur Radio Society’s Manager Mr. Mohammad Al-Holi (9K2DR) and members of the board would like to congratulate everyone on the holy month of Ramadan.
KARS office hours are 8:00 PM - 11:00 PM [Sunday - Thursday] during the holy month of Ramadan.
A number of KARS members have requested the installation of an Echolink repeater to add Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) to the amateur radio experience here in Kuwait. Members of the board have approved the request and have registered online to Echolink. It is expected that the Echolink system will be up and running some time during the upcoming months.
During the period of April 15th - July 15th, Kuwait had witnessed a number of sandstorms and high winds. The effects of mother nature were felt all throughout Kuwait. While most 9K operators were concerned about their antennas and towers, most were luckily unaffected by the winds. However, KARS HQ suffered from these winds and as a direct result one of the masts on the northeastern tower was severely bent and now requires a new mast. Moreover, The southern tower of KARS HQ requires a new rotator due to the effect of the winds on the rotator’s break.
